Love Heals

During the weekend, I had time to color in my “Healing Hearts” coloring book.  It’s not something I do often, but, in certain quiet moments, I find it meditative to dump my colored pencils out all over my bed and play.  The only coloring book I own was created by Manwol, “Beloved Spiritual Leader of Sun Tao,” as it says on the front cover.  One of the things I enjoy most about it is that along with the abstract pictures she has drawn for us to fill in, she has included healing messages.   The message that accompanied the picture I was working on the other night was this:

Just As They Are

Love is not just a matter of being a refuge for each other, and it’s not some vague expectation that the other person will fill in the gap caused by your inadequacies.  It’s not about being complacent, only seeing the other person’s strengths, and it’s not about trying to fix their weaknesses.

Love is the ability to see the other person just as they are and to understand them honestly. And it is trusting completely in the truth and purity that fill your true nature and theirs.

I found this message to be beautiful, and it got me thinking about the documentary, “Love Heals.”  I had the privilege to be one of the first to view this documentary recently, and I was moved by its touching story and healing message.

Love really does heal.  To me, loving includes forgiving and accepting, understanding and having compassion for.  Being able to do this towards ourselves, heals our hearts, just as being able to do this for others, heals theirs.

Growing our capacity to love is one of the greatest goals we can have as human beings; it’s one of the most fulfilling things we can achieve during our time on the planet.  In growing our love, we grow light in this world.

If you’re interested, please check out the “Love Heals” Premiere Party that will take place on YouTube Live this upcoming Tuesday.  I know I’ll be there.  I am most happy when I see bright souls sharing in true, unconditional Love – the great superpower of the human heart.

It is so crazy to me that you picked this particular topic to write about at this exact moment. I recently just finished Ellen Burstyn’s autobiography and watched a movie she made in 1980 called Resurrection. I was deeply moved and touched by it. It is more or less about healing and the power of love. I believe you can find it on Youtube. It has stuck with me the last few weeks and is constantly on my mind and in my heart… Your posts always come at the right time. On the topic of synchronicities while I was reading her book she quoted “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. It made me think of our meeting and the path it set me on and many of the other great teachers I have been blessed to have in my life. They all appeared when I was able to receive them. I owe everything to being taught and guided by terrific teachers who have a lot of passion and love in their hearts. Thank you for being one of them.
